PREMO VENTURES
Investment Thesis
Institutional venture capital skipped cannabis. The Northeast is a new category — legitimizing, regulated, and still early. Premo was built from the inside out.
This is an untapped space in a brand-new emerging market — not despite the complexity, but because we have already navigated it as operators.
We Invest Where Others Won't Look
The cannabis industry is one of the most complex, misunderstood, and underserved markets in American business history. Traditional venture capital has largely ignored it — deterred by federal ambiguity, regulatory fragmentation, and cultural stigma. We see something different. We see a $50+ billion industry in the early innings of legitimization, a brand landscape wide open for the right operators, and a Northeast market that is transforming faster than almost anywhere in the country.
Premo Ventures was built by operators, not observers. With over a decade of hands-on experience in the cannabis space — from retail floors to software architecture — we have navigated the complexity that most investors simply won't touch. That experience is not a footnote. It is our edge.
We do not invest from the sidelines. We have built what we back — and that changes everything about how we support the founders and operators in our portfolio.

The Market Opportunity
Cannabis Is Not a Niche — It Is a Category
The United States cannabis market is one of the fastest-growing consumer categories in history, and the Northeast is at its epicenter. New Jersey and New York — two of the most densely populated, economically active states in the country — have fully legalized adult-use cannabis within the last several years. Connecticut has followed. This is not a future opportunity. It is happening now, and the infrastructure, brand ecosystem, and technology layer that will define this market for the next decade is being built today.
Premo Ventures is positioned at the center of that build-out — with active retail operations, software investments, brand IP pipelines, and community partnerships already in market.
Why the Northeast, Why Now
The Northeast represents the most compelling cannabis investment geography in the country for three reasons:
Our team has operated in this region for over a decade. We have the licenses, the relationships, and the operational knowledge to move faster and smarter than any investor entering this market cold.
How we invest
Our Investment Thesis
Premo Ventures deploys capital across four interconnected verticals. Together, they form a flywheel: retail builds market presence, technology makes operations intelligent, brand IP drives consumer demand, and community ventures deepen our roots in the regions we serve.

Cannabis Software & Technology
+
01
Cannabis Software & Technology
The cannabis industry runs on outdated, fragmented infrastructure. Compliance tools, point-of-sale systems, analytics platforms, and inventory management software have largely been built by people who have never operated a dispensary. We invest in technology built by and for cannabis operators — tools that solve real problems at the register, in the back office, and across multi-location portfolios.
What We Look For
- ·Platforms that integrate with existing regulatory and retail systems (Metrc, Flowhub, etc.)
- ·Analytics and ERP tools that give operators real-time, actionable intelligence
- ·Software that scales across multi-state operations without sacrificing compliance
- ·Founders with direct cannabis operational experience, not just SaaS backgrounds
Portfolio Example — DebTera
Our proprietary ERP and analytics platform was built from the ground up to solve the data fragmentation problem that every cannabis retailer faces. DebTera centralizes retail data, tracks performance across locations, and surfaces insights that drive smarter purchasing, staffing, and marketing decisions. It is the technology backbone of our own retail operations — and the foundation of our software investment thesis.

Cannabis Retail & Physical Operations
+

Cannabis Retail & Physical Operations
There is no substitute for presence. Physical retail is where the cannabis consumer relationship is built — where brand loyalty is won or lost, where the experience defines the category. We invest in and operate dispensaries that set a higher standard for the customer experience, the community relationship, and the operational model.
What We Look For in Retail
- ·Operators with existing or in-process licensure in NJ, NY, or CT
- ·Locations with strong demographic alignment and limited immediate competition
- ·Founders who understand that retail cannabis is a hospitality business first
- ·Operations built for compliance from day one, not retrofitted after the fact
Our Retail Footprint
- Premo Keyport — Keyport, New Jersey. A flagship retail operation serving the Monmouth County market, open daily with a full-service adult-use and medical menu.
- Premo Dover — Dover, New Jersey. Expanding our retail presence deeper into Morris County, serving a growing consumer base in a key Northern NJ market.
These are not passive investments. We built these operations. We know what it takes to license, staff, merchandise, and scale a cannabis retail location — and that operational knowledge directly informs every investment we make.

Brand IP & Market Entry
+
03
Brand IP & Market Entry
One of the most underexplored opportunities in cannabis is the introduction of established consumer brand IP into regulated markets. Brands that consumers already trust — from music, culture, food, and lifestyle — represent an enormous unlock for the cannabis category. When the right IP meets the right operator and the right market, the results are transformational.
Premo Ventures has built a specialized practice around bringing brand IP to the Northeast cannabis market. We identify brands with authentic cultural resonance, structure licensing and co-branding arrangements, navigate the regulatory requirements for branded cannabis products in NJ and NY, and manage the go-to-market execution from launch to shelf.
What We Look For in Brand IP Deals
- ·Authentic cultural connection — the brand must mean something before it touches cannabis
- ·Principal availability and willingness to engage as an active partner, not a passive licensor
- ·Brand equity that translates across NJ, NY, and the broader Northeast consumer base
- ·Product positioning clarity — premium, mid-market, or value; not undefined
Notable Brand Launches
- Big Smoke Farm — The cannabis brand of Grammy-nominated rapper Benny the Butcher, one of the most respected voices in hip-hop. Premo Ventures led the market entry strategy and launch execution for Big Smoke Farm in the Northeast, connecting authentic cultural credibility with premium cannabis product positioning.
- Astor Club — A premium cannabis brand built for the discerning Northeast consumer. Positioned at the intersection of luxury lifestyle and accessible cannabis culture.
- Big Buds for the Low — A value-forward brand built on the principle that quality cannabis should be accessible to everyone. Targeting the high-volume, price-conscious segment of the Northeast market.
- Premo Brands — Our proprietary house brand, developed and refined through our own retail operations. Premo Brands serves as both a portfolio anchor and a proving ground for new product concepts before they scale.
Additional brand partnerships currently in development are subject to NDA. We expect to announce several new collaborations in the coming quarters.

Community-Focused Ventures

Community-Focused Ventures
Cannabis is our core, but it is not our ceiling. Premo Ventures believes that the strongest investment portfolios are built on a foundation of genuine community connection — and that some of the most compelling business opportunities exist in the neighborhoods and networks that institutional capital routinely overlooks.
We invest in non-cannabis companies that are building something real in the Northeast: local service businesses, community infrastructure, consumer brands with strong regional identity, and founders who are deeply embedded in the communities they serve. These investments are not charity. They are high-conviction bets on operators who know their market better than anyone.
What We Look For
- ·Founders with authentic community relationships and a clear local competitive advantage
- ·Businesses serving genuine, unmet needs in Northeast markets — not solutions looking for problems
- ·Models that are profitable or have a clear, operator-driven path to profitability
- ·Founders who want a partner who understands their market, not just their cap table
We invest in people who are building for their community, not just for their exit.
Geography
Geographic Focus: The Northeast
Premo Ventures operates with intentional geographic discipline. We are a Northeast firm. Our capital, our network, our licenses, our retail locations, and our operator relationships are concentrated in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut — and that concentration is a feature, not a limitation.
New Jersey
New Jersey was one of the first states in the Northeast to fully operationalize adult-use cannabis retail. We have two active retail locations here, deep regulatory relationships, and a track record of navigating the CRC licensing process. NJ is our home market.
New York
New York's cannabis market is one of the largest consumer opportunities in the country, now actively opening. We are positioned to support brands and operators entering this market with the network, the compliance knowledge, and the retail relationships to move quickly.
Connecticut
Connecticut's regulated cannabis market adds a third active geography to our Northeast footprint — diversifying our exposure while deepening our regional expertise.
When you work with Premo Ventures, you are not getting a coastal fund that views the Northeast as one of many markets. You are getting a team whose entire professional network, regulatory knowledge, and operator credibility is concentrated exactly where you need it.

If you are a founder building in this space, a brand looking to enter the Northeast cannabis market, or an LP seeking disciplined, operator-led exposure to cannabis — we want to hear from you.
